The Following is from my Publisher, Rothstein Publishing

The Rothstein Publishing team is excited to report that ASIS International has chosen Ernie Hayden's new book, Critical Infrastructure Risk Assessment: The Definitive Threat Identification and Threat Reduction Handbook as one of three finalists for Security Book of the Year, out of 17 books nominated.

Now in its eighth year, the Security Industry Book of the Year is chosen by a committee of ASIS members who are established authors, editors, and reviewers. Eligible books were authored by ASIS members and published in 2020.

Founded in 1955, ASIS International is a global community of security practitioners, each of whom has a role in the protection of assets - people, property, and/or information.

ASIS members represent virtually every industry in the public and private sectors, and organizations of all sizes. From entry-level managers to CSOs to CEOs, from security veterans to consultants and those transitioning from law enforcement or the military, the ASIS community is global and diverse.

"Ernie Hayden has provided an extraordinary work that goes beyond its title, addressing Risk Assessment for Critical Infrastructure, with all its elements: threat identification, vulnerability identification, and impact. But more than an academic exercise, Mr. Hayden has taken years of experience as a risk assessor, and provides a handbook that will be invaluable to both the novice assessor, the executive who has been charged with an assignment to have a risk assessment completed, and the seasoned assessor.”

HAYDEN RECOGNIZED BY INDEGY AS ONE OF 10 ICS SECURITY INFLUENCERS FOR 2018

    https://blog.indegy.com/industrial-cyber-security-influencers-2018

In February 2018 Indegy Industrial Cyber Security published a blog article entitled, "10 Industrial Cyber Security Influencers Offer Expert Insights for 2018."  In this blog, Ernie offered the following advice:

For 2018 my first recommendation to any and all organizations relying on industrial control systems (ICS) is to hire a qualified, experienced company or individuals to conduct a thorough ICS security assessment of the organization and facilities.

The security assessment should include both cyber and physical security inspections of systems, buildings, and property looking for vulnerabilities as well as strengths/good practices. The vulnerabilities need to be identified and a recommended corrective action should be documented.

The vulnerabilities should then be assessed relative to their resulting risk to the plant/enterprise and classified as Critical, High, Medium, Low or Informational. Hence, the management can take this list of issues and focus their resources -- i.e., manpower and money -- on the higher risk issues first. Such an assessment is a great way to start the year and can help with budgeting, resource assignment and identification of key concerns.

Of course, anything potentially affecting safety or production should be attended to first.
